What Is This Coupon Mumbo Jumbo?

What does all of this “coupon” mumbo jumbo mean?

Here is a list of “Coupon Terms” that is frequently used while doing store post here on Cheapest Mom. They are also known as “Coupon Lingo” or “Coupon Jargon”!

$2.00/1 = $2.00 off the purchase of one (1) specific item

$2.00 off of 1 item

$5.00/$25.00 = $5.00 off of total purchase of $25.00 before coupons and taxes

$5.00 off a group of purchase that total $25.00 before coupons and taxes

AC = After Coupon
All You = All You Magazine

A magazine full of coupons that only can be bought at Wal-Mart @ $2.79 per issue or ordered through Amazon @ $19.95 for 13 issues

BC = Before Coupon
Blinkie = Manufactured Coupons

Manufactured Coupons found in the little red boxes on the shelf of the grocery stores that blink. These coupons are put out by a company called Smart Source.

B1G1 FREE or BOGO FREE = Buy One Get One FREE
B2G1FREE = Buy Two Get One FREE
Bricks = Company that provides internet printable coupon
CAT = Catalina

This is a coupon that will print out at the register when you check out. A “coupon” you can use towards your next purchase

CF = Cellfire.com (manufacturer coupons that can be loaded to a shopper’s card)
CPN = Coupon
DCRT = Dated Cash Register Receipt
ECB = Extra Care Bucks

A “coupon” for dollars off a future purchase at CVS. This is printed at the bottom of your cash registered receipt.

ECoupons = Electronic Coupons (store coupons that can be added to your shopper’s card)
FAR = Free After Rebate
GC = Gift Card
HTH = How that Helps
IP = Internet printable coupon
IS = Inside Specialty Marked Packages (coupons that are found inside packages)
MQ or MC = Manufacture Coupon
MIR = Mail in Rebate (usually calls for UPC code, original cash register receipt and a limit of one (1) per address)
OOP = Out of Pocket (otherwise known as the money you will spend out of your pocket)
OYNO = On Your Next Order (usually refers to a coupon that can be used the next time you shop)
PC = Promo Code (a code you can use during the checkout process when buying something online)
Peelie = A coupon found on a product to be used at that time or on a future purchase
PG = Proctor & Gamble coupon insert from your newspaper
POP = Proof of Purchase (a cash register receipt)
Q = Coupon
RP = Red Plum coupon insert from your newspaper
RR = Register Rewards

Walgreens version of a catalina (you can use on a future purchase but you cannot use it on the same items that you had purchased to receive one)

SC = Shortcuts.com (manufacturer coupons that can be loaded to a shopper’s card)
SCR = Single Check Rebate – The check that Rite Aid sends for it’s rebate program.
SP = Stockpile
SS = Smart Source coupon insert from your newspaper
STC = Store Coupon
TMF = Try Me Free offer
UL = Unilever coupon insert from your newspaper
UPC = Universal Product Code (black straight lines with number under them)
+UP Rewards

Rite Aid Reward System (you will receive these on the bottom of your receipt after a qualifying purchase has been made. You use this on your next purchase at Rite Aid)

V = Vlassis coupon insert (also known as RP)
WYB = When You Buy (Typically associated with dollars off when you buy an item)
YMMV = Your Mileage May Vary (depends on your local store)
