Stockpiling or Not?
Everybody that I talk to says, you must stockpile but I have a different opinion on the subject. Yes! Stockpiling is good if you can buy the items on sale and with a coupon at rock bottom prices. No! Stockpiling is not that good if you use your credit card to pay for the merchandise and not pay off the credit card at the end of the month (carry a balance). Or, how about if you take money to stockpile when you could actually use the money to pay down a bill/debt (ex: student loans, credit cards, loans & etc.). Or, god forbid you use your bill/debt money to stockpile.
I’m not saying that you shouldn’t stockpile at all if you have any kind of bill/debt, but you just need to think about what financial benefit it would be to use that extra money to pay some bill/debt off so you do not have to pay out as much the next month. If you use your spare money to pay a little extra on a bill/debt before you know it the bill/debt will be paid off. Once that bill/debt is paid off, use the money you normally would use to pay the first bill/debt each month and pay down your next bill/debt. Before you know it, you will have enough money to stockpile those items of necessity.
I personally have put myself on a food/necessity budget. Before I started using coupons, I always spent between $200.00 to $250.00 each week for a family of six. Sometimes it barely got us through the week. I always bought store brand items instead of national brands to save money. But since I have started using coupons and shopping all of the sales, I have been able to stay within my weekly budget and obtain a stockpile of necessity items. “If I can do it, you can too”
